EVN CBD and JIVE board meetings at Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Bordeaux

The Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Bordeaux (LAB) is pleased to host the next meetings of the European VLBI Network Consortium Board of Directors (EVN CBD) and the JIVE Board, according to the following schedule:

• Thursday April 24th : EVN CBD / EVN CBD Exec
• Friday April 25th : JIVE Board

The meetings will be held in the LAB located in Floirac, a suburb of Bordeaux. The city of Bordeaux is worldwide famous for its wines but has also drawn attention lately thanks to its splendid gothic cathedral and 18th century mansions, which have just been registered at the world patrimony by UNESCO.

Please register by sending an email to bellanger@obs.u-bordeaux1.fr with a copy to charlot@obs.u-bordeaux1.fr.
Indicates which meetings you will attend (EVN CBD, EVN CBD Exec, JIVE Board), your arrival and departure date, and the hotel you have booked.

Accomodation

We have made block reservations of rooms at the hotels listed below. The three pre-booked hotels are in the city center or within walking distance. It has been very difficult to find rooms because of a large conference involving several thousands of people which happens the same week in Bordeaux.

These block reservations expire on SUNDAY 23 MARCH (one month before the meeting).

Please do the booking yourself by calling or emailing the hotels with the corresponding booking codes. A credit card number will be asked to guarantee the reservation. You should be aware that it may be impossible to find a room in the city center beyond the above date.

Transportation

Getting from Bordeaux to Floirac.
Transportation from the city center to the observatory will be provided.
A bus will pick you up in front of "Office de Tourisme de Bordeaux" near "l'hotel des quatre soeurs" (cf the map) thursday morning at 8h15.

Getting from the airport to Bordeaux
From the Mérignac-Bordeaux airport, you could either take a taxi or use the Jet Bus to reach the center of the town (exit Office de Tourisme / Tourism Information).

Getting from the airport to Floirac
From the Mérignac-Bordeaux airport, the only way to reach the Observatory is by taxi. The Observatory is located in "Floirac Centre" near the church. The adress is :
